Hot summer months, cold winter winds, increasing U.S. energy use and higher utility
bills make energy efficiency and conservation very appealing actions for most Kansas
homeowners.
By conserving the amount of energy used to heat, cool, light and power your home, you
can save money, decrease our reliance on foreign sources of power, and ensure the effective
use of our natural resources. In fact, the federal government’s Energy Star program
notes that your house produces twice as much carbon dioxide in a year than your car!
Lt. Governor Mark Parkinson
tours the new and energy efficient North Newton City Hall with City Administrator
John Torline, Councilmemeber Gregg Dick, Chief of Police Ray Classen and Mayor Ron
Braun.
To address these issues, the Governor and I have been working to decrease our energy
consumption as a state by encouraging conservation and efficiency measures in buildings and homes throughout
Kansas.
